In today's modern, industrialized world we come into contact with an endless amount of harmful substances, e.g. pesticides, chemically treated fabrics and clothing, industrial solvents, heavy metals and personal-care products, among others. In addition to neutralizing the effects of these substances, the liver must also metabolize and detoxify medications.
The liver detoxifies not only compounds from outside the body but also those we produce ourselves, as normal, natural by-products of our own metabolism — including the breakdown of food and hormones.
Amino-D-Tox™ provides nutritional support for phase II detoxification. It does not contain herbs or plant parts, minerals or B vitamins that could also affect phase I detoxification. Providing nutritional support for phase II detoxification helps bind toxins together (conjugate toxins) and prepare them for safe excretion from the body.
Content and effect of the included substances:
• Taurine, methionine, MSM and N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC): sulphur-containing amino acids and compounds that support the sulphation pathway for detoxification. Think of sulphur as a "carrier" the liver uses to tag certain toxins to be removed from the body. This pathway requires sufficient sulphur to function optimally.
• Glutathione: the body's most important antioxidant, which neutralizes "free radicals" (harmful substances) with the help of glutamine and NAC.
• Calcium-D-glucarate: supports the glucuronidation pathway and detoxification in the colon. Glucuronic acid binds toxins and helps them be excreted from the body.
