Lipoic Acid / Alpha-lipoic acid is a fatty acid with antioxidant properties in the body, and is both fat- and water-soluble, which helps it act in several different types of tissue.
What is Lipoic Acid?
Alpha-lipoic acid, or Lipoic acid as it is called in English, is a naturally occurring substance that can to some extent be formed in the body with the help of enzymes in the cells' power plants, the mitochondria. Among other things, it can act as a cofactor for enzymes important for mitochondrial energy metabolism. Lipoic Acid is also a powerful antioxidant.
