Strong antioxidant.
Maintains blood vessels, platelets (thrombocytes) and cardiovascular function.
Supports cell renewal.
Resveratrol is found in red wine, the skins of red grapes and red grapefruit, but is especially high in Polygonum cuspidatum (a plant). The active form of resveratrol is trans-resveratrol. This has positive properties on cardiovascular function and counteracts atherosclerosis in research studies.
Resveratrol is a very strong antioxidant and can reduce harmful substances (lipid peroxides) formed in the body during various inflammatory conditions. Lipid peroxides can damage cells and tissues in the body. Resveratrol also supports cell renewal, and it is therefore said to have effects that can positively influence lifespan (anti-aging).
